It was pointed out to me that I have not updated my blog since August. My response to that was, "Told you I had a boring life!" Which, compared to most I'm sure, is true. To be honest tho, that's how I like it. I have friends/family going through things I could never imagine. A sick child, a personal illness, saying goodbye to a loved one long before being ready, the end of a marriage. Those are all things that stop me in my tracks, and make me say a thankful prayer that my children are healthy.
Eldest is growing too fast for my taste! She celebrated her birthday by having 2 friends spend the night. That went way better than I expected. Especially since the Boy and the Youngest were also here. She's doing excellent in school. Her teacher is very impressed with her writing abilities. Each student in her school was assigned to write a letter to a local cable company who have been dragging their feet in getting the cable restored. Eldest's letter was two pages long and contained a schedule for the workers. She was thoughtful enough to give them Christmas Day and New Year's Day off. What a task master!
The Youngest has been popping out teeth left and right. She looks like a pumpkin at Halloween! Thankfully, the top two teeth are starting to break through the surface or the child would have to drink everything through a straw. She is going to bankrupt the Tooth Fairy (TF) if she keeps it up! One funny story...she lost 2 teeth over one weekend. The TF had no change unfortunately but didn't want to disappoint Youngest. So I told her that the TF didn't come on weekends. Hey, whatever works, right?
The Boy...he's been making some strides in an area that would TOTALLY embarrass him if I mentioned it on my blog. He has not, however, lost any of his teeth. Much to his unhappiness, btw. He did ask me what I wanted for Christmas and I asked that he and his sisters stop fighting with each other. He shook his head sadly and said, "Sorry, I can't do that." "Why?" I questioned. "Because Adam and Eve sinned, that means I'll sin too. Just can't help it!" My son, the Theologian.
Mutt is as adorable as ever. She even brought me a present the other night. I let her out to do her business and when she came in, she dropped a dead (THANKFULLY!) baby mouse at my feet. Mutt was so very proud and couldn't understand why I was saying rather loudly, "Take it out! Take it out!" I took care of it, cringing and shuddering all the while. I gave her an extra treat for taking her prize away but am very careful about letting her back in the house now.
We went to my mom's to visit for a few days. Thanks to the Ex's present to the kids for Christmas, I heard barely a peep from them on the trip down and back! Lovin' the Nintendo DS!
I was able to drive past my childhood home which looked good. I also visited my Dad's grave. I hadn't been there in a long time and just wanted to go. Might be morbid, I guess. Ended up staying a bit longer than I'd intended since my car decided not to start. After waiting for 20 minutes, it started right up. Must have been tired from the trip...
Work begins again tomorrow. It's going to be tough going back after having been off since Christmas Eve. Looking forward to seeing (most of) my co-workers.
Wishing all a great 2009!

Love my kids. I think they are adorable! Even at 3am when The Boy is trying to get a drink of water and drops his glass.....

Spending The Weekend In Bed...

What A Week!

Last Saturday, Eldest went to a local amusement park with kids from her Summer Camp. She had a great time but ended up getting back an hour and a half later than planned. We were all exhausted by the time we got home and I got everyone into bed as soon as possible.
Skip ahead to 2:30a. The Boy comes into my room and asked to get into bed with me. I let him for a few minutes and then sent him back to his room. I saw the light in the bathroom come on and knew he'd gone in there. All of a sudden I hear, "MOM! I'M PUKING!" ICK! I'll spare the rest of the details, but I will tell you that I didn't have a mess to clean up. Whew!
Monday evening the kids came home from the Ex's house. The Youngest wasn't feeling well: fever, sore throat, chills....sigh. I took her to the doc's on Tuesday and she has been placed on antibiotics. She'll see an ENT next month.
I honestly don't know where people get the impression that children don't share. Youngest shares her germs just fine. Today was my turn to go to the doc's to get meds. I did manage to make it into work but didn't stay for long. Came home and slept the afternoon away. I love my pillow!
All in all I really can't complain about the week. I made it through Wednesday relatively unscathed. More on that later.

I Just Wanna Watch TV!

For whatever reason, my satellite receiver has been "skipping". I called the company and they said they would have to replace the receiver. I got the replacement the other day and decided to hook it up tonight. What should have taken ten minutes ended up taking an hour! I missed the first 5 minutes of Supernatural but eventually got the thing working. GO ME! And the Customer Service Rep who stayed on the phone with me!
Meanwhile, Eldest is in my bathroom cleaning her ears. We recently got her ears pierced again. The Youngest got her ears pierced too. I've been cleaning The Youngest's earrings for obvious reasons but tonight Eldest decided she could do it. Nothing can be easy though. The Youngest comes running in the living room screaming: "Eldest can't get my earrings back in and she says the holes are closing up!" After calming The Youngest down, I eventually got her earrings back into her ears. Crisis averted!
So now I'm relaxing...listening to XMen 3 in the background with Mutt at my feet. Life's good!

Drama and Technical Difficulties Pt. II
Holy heck, Batman! What a day. I'll get to the drama in just a moment. First, I must thank CJ for her help in figuring out why I couldn't add another post to my blog. THANKS, CJ!
Now, for the drama. It started this morning with Eldest. We recently found some old home movies of when the kids were little. The Boy loves watching them. He got up early this morning, got dressed and brushed his teeth just to watch the movies before we had to leave. Eldest freaked because, according her, the tv in the living room is hers. As is a certain spot on the couch. Hmph...maybe when she starts paying rent!
Of course work was full of drama too. Things have been a bit up in the air since my previous manager retired. The new manager is fitting in quite nicely, however there are many changes. It's frustrating, especially those who have been there the longest. Now, if you know me, you know I'm Switzerland. I try to stay neutral and not pick any sides. That was working out fine until today. I got bumped into the middle! Argh...Oh well. Some days you get to watch and some days you have to play.
