It was pointed out to me that I have not updated my blog since August. My response to that was, "Told you I had a boring life!" Which, compared to most I'm sure, is true. To be honest tho, that's how I like it. I have friends/family going through things I could never imagine. A sick child, a personal illness, saying goodbye to a loved one long before being ready, the end of a marriage. Those are all things that stop me in my tracks, and make me say a thankful prayer that my children are healthy.
Eldest is growing too fast for my taste! She celebrated her birthday by having 2 friends spend the night. That went way better than I expected. Especially since the Boy and the Youngest were also here. She's doing excellent in school. Her teacher is very impressed with her writing abilities. Each student in her school was assigned to write a letter to a local cable company who have been dragging their feet in getting the cable restored. Eldest's letter was two pages long and contained a schedule for the workers. She was thoughtful enough to give them Christmas Day and New Year's Day off. What a task master!
The Youngest has been popping out teeth left and right. She looks like a pumpkin at Halloween! Thankfully, the top two teeth are starting to break through the surface or the child would have to drink everything through a straw. She is going to bankrupt the Tooth Fairy (TF) if she keeps it up! One funny story...she lost 2 teeth over one weekend. The TF had no change unfortunately but didn't want to disappoint Youngest. So I told her that the TF didn't come on weekends. Hey, whatever works, right?
The Boy...he's been making some strides in an area that would TOTALLY embarrass him if I mentioned it on my blog. He has not, however, lost any of his teeth. Much to his unhappiness, btw. He did ask me what I wanted for Christmas and I asked that he and his sisters stop fighting with each other. He shook his head sadly and said, "Sorry, I can't do that." "Why?" I questioned. "Because Adam and Eve sinned, that means I'll sin too. Just can't help it!" My son, the Theologian.
Mutt is as adorable as ever. She even brought me a present the other night. I let her out to do her business and when she came in, she dropped a dead (THANKFULLY!) baby mouse at my feet. Mutt was so very proud and couldn't understand why I was saying rather loudly, "Take it out! Take it out!" I took care of it, cringing and shuddering all the while. I gave her an extra treat for taking her prize away but am very careful about letting her back in the house now.
We went to my mom's to visit for a few days. Thanks to the Ex's present to the kids for Christmas, I heard barely a peep from them on the trip down and back! Lovin' the Nintendo DS!
I was able to drive past my childhood home which looked good. I also visited my Dad's grave. I hadn't been there in a long time and just wanted to go. Might be morbid, I guess. Ended up staying a bit longer than I'd intended since my car decided not to start. After waiting for 20 minutes, it started right up. Must have been tired from the trip...
Work begins again tomorrow. It's going to be tough going back after having been off since Christmas Eve. Looking forward to seeing (most of) my co-workers.
Wishing all a great 2009!
